The Minister of Economy and Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Srpska, Vjekoslav Petričević, visited the textile company Yumco in Vranje on Monday, July 19, where he met with the general director of the company, Branislav Trajković, the ministry announced.
The aim of today’s visit was the opportunity to intensify the existing cooperation and continue Yumco’s investments in the textile sector of the Republic of Srpska. During the meeting they discussed the activities of the leading textile company from Serbia and future plans to open new production plants in Srpska.
– Our cooperation in the past two years has been intensive and to the mutual satisfaction. Our future goal is to provide a market throughout Europe and the world through joint cooperation, and we will act there with joint forces and thus realize the opening of new Yumco plants in the Republic of Srpska – said Vjekoslav Petričević, the Minister of Economy and Entrepreneurship in the Government of the Republic of Srpska.
On this occasion, Minister Petričević pointed out that the idea is to open a new plant in Herzegovina, given that this area has experience and tradition of the textile industry. The requirements of the textile industry can be met, with provided workforce.
He added that, after the last joint session of the Governments of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, the cooperation is deepening and that the project of investing in the infrastructure of Podrinje is being implemented, which will benefit the population on both sides of the Drina, and stated that, in order to attract investors and economic development of this area, EUR 10.5 million has been allocated for these purposes.
Also, Petričević pointed out the possibility of cooperation with the company Simpo from Vranje, considering the fact that the wood industry has a large share in the economy of the Republic of Srpska.
Branislav Trajković, General Manager of Yumco, reminded that at the beginning of 2020, with the mediation of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, Yumco company opened a factory in Drvar, in which EUR 500,000 has been invested and 100 workers have been employed.
– Since then, we have had extremely good cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Srpska, specifically with the Ministry of Economy and Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Srpska. We are improving our mutual cooperation on a daily level, in terms of administrative assistance, assistance in finding the market, not only in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also beyond, so we will continue this cooperation in the coming period – said Trajković.
