My expectations from today’s meeting are high because I expect concrete agreements on investing in the border part of the Republic of Srpska and Serbia, in the free zones that have been formed from Bratunac to Bijeljina, said the Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Radovan Višković.
At the meeting in the Serbian Chamber of Commerce on investment opportunities in the Republic of Srpska, Višković said that the representatives of seven companies that were present at the meeting expressed concrete interest in investing, that special talks would be held with them and an investment agreement will be signed with one company.
The meeting was attended by representatives of 40 Serbian companies, and Višković did not say with which company the contract will be signed, but he stated that it already has a plant for the production of housing containers in Srebrenica.
– Now they will build a factory for the production of profiles for those containers in Bratunac, in the free zone next to the Bratoljub Bridge – said Višković.
He said that the initiative for strengthening the economic cooperation between Serbia and the Republic of Srpska was agreed upon a year ago at the meeting with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.
– Our wish is to employ people in the border area and keep them in their places so that they would not have to come to Belgrade, Novi Sad, Bijeljina or Banja Luka – Višković explained.
The Minister of Finance of Serbia, Siniša Mali, reminded that Serbia is the largest investor in the Republic of Srpska, and stated that since 2019, 148 legal entities have been established in the Republic of Srpska and that the founders of the company are from Serbia.
– It is not a small number, but it can be even better. This is why such gatherings are for – said Mali, adding that economic connections and investments cannot be realized without good infrastructure, and reminded that Serbia and the Republic of Srpska have joint investments in highways, hydroelectric power plants and the airport in Trebinje.
Mali called on companies from Serbia to continue investing in Srpska.
