Foreign investments in the Republic of Srpska last year amounted to 285.1 million BAM

At its session on December 2, the Government of the Republic of Srpska accepted the Information on the state and flows of foreign direct investments in the Republic of Srpska and the results of the Post-Investment Investor Support Program. By December 31, 2020, the total foreign investments in the Republic of Srpska amounted to 5.5 billion BAM.

According to the data of the Central Bank of BiH, in 2020, net foreign investments in the amount of BAM 285.1 million were recorded in the Republic of Srpska. According to preliminary data from the Central Bank of BiH for the period January-June 2021, foreign direct investments in the Republic of Srpska amounted to 211 million BAM, the Republic of Srpska Government said in a statement.

The countries that invested the most in the Republic of Srpska in 2020 were: Serbia 121.3 million BAM, Great Britain 57 million BAM, Slovenia 45.5 million BAM, Germany 34.7 million BAM and Italy 27.4 million BAM.

In 2020, 149 new companies with an element of foreign investment were registered, and in the period January-October 2021, 181 new companies were established.

The program of post-investment support to investors, the so-called Aftercare has been conducted since 2013, and a total of 28 local self-government units in the Republic of Srpska are involved. The program implies institutional cooperation between the national and local levels through the established Cooperation Network for work and post-investment support to investors, which consists of representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Entrepreneurship and appointed coordinators in local governments.
